The Division of Hematology/Oncology is staffed by Board-Certified physicians and a team of highly trained and skilled nurses that provide comprehensive care for the treatment of diseases of the blood and various types of cancers. The Division of Hematology/Oncology serves patient’s needs from diagnostic services to offering specific clinical trials.
Brookdale, a major teaching hospital, has dedicated staff including board certified physicians in Hematology and Oncology, fellows (in training), and Oncology nurses to provide medical and non-medical needs of patients with cancer.
Brookdale’s Cancer Center offers a Palliative Care Program (care for the terminally ill patients) that focuses on comfort and pain management, rather than curative measures. Nutrition, psychosocial chaplaincy and advocacy are also available services.
The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology diagnoses and treats children and teenagers with blood disorders such as sickle cell disease and cancer, and provides information and counseling to parents and patients.
